“We receive a large number of compliments every year on our services to home educators. I have to tell you…if it were not for the wonderful staff God has given us, HLA would not be what it is today!”
~ David Parkerson

Meet the Staff
Kim Anderson, Forms Assistant

“If you need a form, I’m your girl! I help with all sorts of forms and documents, including those wonderful Driver’s Licenses! You can enter a request anytime in the Member Login area and I will be happy to help.”

Elizabeth Horst, Filing Assistant

“I just love to keep your files organized and in perfect order. Managing all the incoming records keeps me pretty busy. If I get caught up I help the others in the records department with their many responsibilities.”

Lynn Knowlton , K-8th Counselor

“I have worked for HLA since the beginning. I can remember when David had the website drawn out on a peace of paper! Now I have a wonderful – nearly full-time job – helping parents get started and helping others keep going. It’s a blessing working for HLA!”

Wayne Parkerson, Administrative Assistant

“My first job was actually just listening to David every day for about three months, explaining his detailed business plan for HLA and his vision for helping home educators. Then, within about a year, I started processing mail, entering data, and assisting in other ways. (But my favorite role is grandfather!).”

Evan Johnson, High School Assistant

"As a graduate of HomeLife Academy I have enjoyed working with HLA families and students since 2004. I help enter high school records, work at curriculum fairs, and basically anything else David or the other staff ask me to jump in with. I love it! And I look forward to helping you any way I can."

Lani Carey, High School Counselor

“The high school years can be difficult to navigate. I have had 2 students graduate, and have 2 more coming up. I've jumped over the high school hurdles and know many tricks that can help you. God granted me the wisdom I needed in many crunch situations, and I am more than happy to share that wisdom with you. If you ever have any questions, you can email me, and I'll be glad to help.”

April Parkerson, Records Secretary

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the many HLA parents. From our graduates to our Kindergarteners, I have helped them sort through their needs. This year I’ll go to a "managerial" position in the Records Department. I'll still be here, though. You can't get rid of me that easily!!

Karen Johnson, High School Counselor and Transcripts

“Homeschooling triplets taught me a great deal about being organized. That lesson reigns through everything I now do for HLA. Last year, I started working more, helping to make sure that your high school student is well on the path for graduation. If you ever have any high school questions, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email!

Tyler Parkerson, Web Development and IT support

“I’ve helped produce some of the media for HLA -- brochures, web banners, print ads, etc. What I’m really excited about is all the ideas David has for the future, to help home educators and make HLA even more of a blessing! I look forward to being a part of that.”

Lynn Williamson, Administrative Assistant

"God put David on my heart while my wife and I were still in California.
I love working with David and April and their kids are like grandkids to me. We hope to serve you in any way we can to make the education of your children the best possible experience it can be."

Dan Johnson, Information Systems

"The LORD provided me with the idea for Homeschool Reporting Online (HSRO) one day while driving home from work. I had been working on HSRO for over a year before meeting David Parkerson during a software demonstration. Little did I know that I would end up being used by the LORD to assist Dave with getting HomeLife Academy (HLA) off the ground. Now, between the HLA Families and HLA Staff, there are thousands accessing the data and software that God built through me. It is an honor to serve the Creator of the Universe. To Him be all praise, glory and honor.”

David Parkerson, Founder and Administrator

“I wear quite a few different hats. My favorite is just talking with parents and helping cast vision. I love our staff and I love my wonderful wife and kids. HLA is a tremendous blessing to us just as you are a blessing to your children!”

David Parkerson and Dan Johnson

“This picture, taken at the filming of a homeschool documentary, is a great reminder of how this whole thing started when Dan entered my life. God used him to spark the fire that is HLA today. We’re all in your debt, Dan. Thank you!”
~ David
