On September 25th several of us from HLA will attend the 25th annual National Homeschool Leader’s Conference near Washington, DC. Last year Ken and I went to the one in Orlando and came away very encouraged!
We expect this year will be even better. In fact, HSLDA decided to do something different this year and even open up this event to booth spaces. So we are going with banner and brochures in tow and look forward to a reunion with hundreds of state homeschool leaders.
I also believe this year will be especially important because of the battles two German families are going through. The Romeike’s are still fighting to stay in America while the Wunderlich family recently had their children removed. Both of these stories have not only pulled at the heart-strings of American homeschoolers they have made us want to stand up and fight for our international brothers and sisters. In addition to calling the German Embassy we are attending conferences like this one to network with key people who fight for our freedom everyday.
It is important for us to stay on top of homeschooling news, to understand what is going on both here in America and abroad. Even though homeschooling is legal in the US there are indirect threats such as the UNCRPD and Common Core. Our goal is to understand what’s going on and communicate with you, letting you know what we can do make sure homeschooling stays free!
We look forward to providing future updates.
