Summary of Requirements in Ohio
Enroll with HomeLife Academy (HLA)* and let HLA help you navigate homeschooling in your state. Here are some things you should know:
- Your child must attend school or comply with the homeschool laws from age 6 through age 18. HLA meets this requirement.
- Ohio parents may choose to homeschool under the state’s homeschool statute or as a non-chartered, non-tax-supported school.
- Immunization records are not required to be on file to meet independent school compliance, and there are no teacher qualifications, number of hours, or assessment requirements under the homeschool statute.
- HLA can help you with your education plan for your student including choosing the best curriculum for how your student learns. You must include the following required subjects in your education plan: English language arts, mathematics, science, history, government, and social studies.
- HLA has Applecore, our online reporting and record-keeping system. You can report grades and attendance, and activities in the portfolio as well as print report cards and transcripts to keep up with your student’s progress as required by the state.
*To legally homeschool in Ohio, you must fill out a Notice of Intent with your local board of education by the time school begins in your area, even if enrolling with HLA.
