Summary of Requirements in Tennessee
Enroll with HomeLife Academy (HLA)* and let HLA help you navigate homeschooling in your state. Here are some things you should know:
- Your child must attend school or comply with the homeschool laws from age 6 through age 17. HLA meets this requirement.
- Your student must have at least 180 days of attendance which can be reported in Applecore, HLA’s online reporting system.
- Immunization records are required to be on file to meet independent school compliance. You can easily upload your records to be kept secure in your family account. Medical and Religious Exemptions may be taken.
- Meet the requirements such as testing, reporting, etc of the school (HLA) or the county with which you are enrolled. HLA does not require testing as we believe the parent knows what is best for their student or immunization records since we are a non-campus based school.
- HLA can help you with your education plan for your student including choosing the best curriculum for how your student learns. HLA has Applecore, our online reporting and record-keeping system. You can report grades and attendance, and activities in the portfolio as well as print report cards to keep up with your student’s progress.
*To legally homeschool in Tennessee, you must enroll with HomeLife Academy or another independent (cover) school OR fill out a Notice of Intent with your local board of education by the time school begins in your area.
