Before requesting a Recommendation Letter, please choose which option best fits your situation: Choose only one option for making your request. Please do not do both.

 

 

Option 1 – You need a Recommendation Letter as part of the Common Application.

To serve as a guidepost, please provide the information detailed below in an email to Rebecca Sardella:

  • Information concerning the student’s career goals, possible college major, passions, strengths, and any personal qualities, character traits, etc.
  • The best recommendations come from the parents – please provide the above in the form of bullet points – don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, pronouns, etc. We will make any necessary changes so that it is from the High School Counselor & add academic information such as GPA and ACT/SAT scores.
  • Please limit the supplemental information provided to one page. Rebecca will reach out if additional information is needed.

Following these suggestions help ensure your student’s letter is a true reflection of their personality, passions & pursuits.

Note: there is no need to enter a request in the Request Manager.

 

 

Option 2 – You need a Recommendation Letter separate from the Common Application.

Steps to take if you need a Recommendation Letter separate from the Common Application. To serve as a guidepost, please provide the information detailed below:

  • Log into myHLA page and click on Request Manager.
  • Select “Recommendation Letter” from the drop-down menu.
  • Information concerning the student’s career goals, possible college major, passions, strengths, and any personal qualities, character traits, etc.
  • The best recommendations come from the parents – please provide the above in the form of bullet points – don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, pronouns, etc. We will make any necessary changes so that it is from the High School Counselor & add academic information such as GPA and ACT/SAT scores.
