Student Timeline for College2TM Path  

Concerning ALL students

  • This checklist if for those students who plan on attending a 2-year college, trade or enlist in the military upon graduation from HLA.
  • If you are unsure which path is the best fit for your student, a career assessment might be helpful.
  • Be sure to update your student’s portfolio each year.
  • Your student will receive an annual Transcript Review in the 11th-grade and 12th-grade. Transcript reviews for the 9th-grade and 10th-grade are upon request.
  • We recommend FL college-bound students should use the FL Planning Sheet.
  • The Transcript Review should be used when planning for the next school year.

Complete a High School Planning Sheet.

  2. Review Graduation Requirements.
  3. Review the College2TM Path information on our website.

  1. Update planning sheet based on the courses your student completed in the 9th-grade.
  2. Make necessary corrections in Applecore ASAP
  3. Request a Driver’s License Form  (14 business days) before needed.
  4. Help your student identify and strengthen academic areas that need to be improved.
  5. Continue to save for college and investigate financial aid resources.
  6. Refer to Awards and Scholarships for helpful information.

 

  1. Update planning sheet based on the courses your student completed in the 10th-grade.
  2. Watch for your upcoming 11th-grade Transcript Review sometime during the 11th-grade year.
  3. Compare the transcript review with student’s planning sheet. 
  4. Make corrections ASAP.
  5. Make note of any remaining courses needed to meet graduation and/or college admissions requirements.
  6. URGENT – Make sure all courses, course titles, grades, and credits are 100% correct in Applecore. Including attendance. 
  7. NO revisions will be allowed once HLA has sent official transcripts.  
  8. Begin researching colleges: note any due dates for applications, scholarships, etc.
  9. Check admissions requirements for prospective colleges. See if your student will need to take the ACT or SAT or if other admissions exams will be required.
  10. Refer to Awards and Scholarships for helpful information.
  11. If your student plans on enlisting in the military, gather information about the AFQT (Armed Forces Qualification Test) and review the military information on our website as well as the military information with HSLDA.
  12. Check with your local homeschool organization concerning graduation activities as some organizations require membership prior to the senior year.
  13. Use the 11th-grade Transcript Review when planning for 12thgrade.

  1. DO NOT REQUEST A DIPLOMA UNTIL ALL COURSES ARE COMPLETE AND FINAL GRADES HAVE BEEN ENTERED.
  2. Use your student’s 11th-grade Transcript Review to plan 12th-grade courses.
  3. Watch for your student’s 12th-grade Transcript Review sometime during his/her 12th-grade year.
  4. Compare the Transcript Review with your student’s High School Planning Sheet.
  5. Double check college admissions requirements and verify that your student has all required courses needed for college admissions and graduation.
  6. Make any needed corrections ASAP.
  7. Students can do a 5th-year if needed to meet graduation requirements or other goals. 
  8. Students planning on attending college will need to fill out your FAFSA form as soon as possible after October 1
  9. Request transcripts to be sent to the college or post-secondary program you student will be applying to.

TN Students – TN Promise

  1. Fill out TN Promise Application by the November 1 deadline. (Online application available Aug 1-Nov 1)
  2. Fill out your FAFSA form as soon as possible beginning October 1 – January 17 of your senior year.
  3. College applications are due beginning in October.
  4. Verify that your student has all required courses needed for college admissions.
  5. Request official transcripts from HLA at least 3 weeks before the deadline. Specify if you want the Portfolio sent with the first transcript you send. 
  6. Request Recommendation Letters if needed. Contact Diane. 
  7. Apply for all colleges and scholarships by the posted due date; earlier if possible.
  8. If your student has not taken the ACT/SAT yet, take it as soon as possible.
    • HLA students must get a 21 on the ACT to qualify for the TN HOPE Scholarship.

Diploma

  1. Request your student’s diploma once all high school courses and requirements are complete, and final grades are entered into AppleCore. Include the student’s name and date of graduation in your request.
  2. Request Final transcripts to be sent to the college or other post-secondary programs AFTER you have requested the diploma.
  3. URGENT – Make sure all courses, course titles, grades, and credits are 100% correct in Applecore.
  4. NO revisions will be allowed once HLA has sent official transcripts.
